Development and implementation of a network management system to turn the AOK IP network safer, reliable and economical. This was accomplished by investigating vulnerabilities and bottlenecks, improving and refining the network management process, and developing and using network management tools.

• Configuration Management: Develop and test of methods to collect network state information
• Security Management: Design and implementation of a system for authentication, authorization and user accounting
• Performance Management: Development and implementation of a continuous collection of the load and quality network state
• Fault Management: Creation of a concept for automatic event handling
